Week 32 and 33 in one post

Its hard to track Weng Weng's movements these days. They come in quick kicks which disappear as quickly as they come. Sometimes the jerks are so sudden that I get startled myself. What a frisky little critter she is.

We visited Chan on Thursday. I found to my horror that I have gained 3 full kilos in 3 weeks, thanks to non stop Chinese New Year feasting and a flurry of buffets with my girlfriends. Needless to say, my tummy has likewise ballooned substantially. Hubby felt that I was asking for it when I emphasized my weight gain to Chan and got a mini lecture from him. I secretly agree.

Although Hubby claims I am in self denial, I cannot help but attribute part of my weight gain to water retention. My feet are looking decidedly swollen and my legs are starting to feel like flubber. After eating a healthy home cooked meal cooked by mom yesterday (comprising lotus root soup, lots of spinach, fried wanton and half an apple), I woke up 6 hours later with a bad stomachache and lost 1kg by the time I woke up this morning. Amazing.

Weng Weng's features are now pretty developed and she is starting to really resemble Hubby, with her increasingly chubby cheeks and high forehead. Chan also commented that she has quite a big head. If I continue gaining weight this quickly, Chan says that Weng Weng (who is now in the higher weight percentile) will have to be delivered via C section.

Chan still can't seem to capture a good shot of Weng Weng. At first, her hand was clasped over her forehead, then it was her leg. In this latest checkup, her hand was over her nose. We are slightly disappointed at the quality of the pictures, which appear quite blurry.

The good news is that everything else is going well as planned. Weng Weng has turned head down and is now engaged for natural birth. There is quite a high possibility that she will be delivered 1-2 weeks earlier but I'm still blocking off my maternity leave from 1 April onwards.

Our baby shopping adventures took a big leap forward on the same day of Chan's appointment. Since Hubby and I were both on leave, we decided to purchase our pram, cot and baby car seat from Baby Hypermart at Kaki Bukit after shortlisting our options. We were served by a queer China lady called Yan Yan who sports a perpetually sullen face but is actually quite helpful and conversant in English. She gave us a pretty good deal and we are quite pleased.
