Is that quite clear?

Whoops! I just realised I forgot to update anything for Week 21 in this blog!

Sorry little Weng Weng!

Last weekend was incredibly packed. On Saturday morning, we attended the hospital tour followed by our monthly appt with Dr Chan at Gleneagles. Thereafter, we had lunch at Tanglin Mall (Chili's) before rushing for pre-natal class with Wong Boi Boi at Ang Mo Kio Hub. By the time I got home, I was so exhausted that I slept through the night without even bothering about dinner.

Sunday was spent unpacking stuff at the new office and buying lunch for Hubby and myself.

Chan was very pleased with Weng Weng's progress during the appointment. He tried to take a nice full face picture of Weng Weng but she was not very co-operative and turned away. We only managed to get a side profile. Hubby thinks Weng Weng has a high forehead like him but I think all babies still look pretty much the same. We also shared with Chan the results of the detailed scan conducted by Dr Chang from Thomson Medical Centre earlier that Monday. Since Dr Chang's report came back clean (no abnormalities detected), Chan also looked mighty pleased. To top it off, we were also thrilled to receive confirmation (from results of the Triple Blood Test which I had taken a month back) that Weng Weng does not have Down Syndrome.

After taking a look at the maternity wards and the packages offered, Hubby and I have settled on a single bed delivery package at Level 6. Single bed rooms are preferred over double bed ones as the spouse gets to sleep over and there is more privacy. The room looks quite plush and comfortable. There's even a complimentary limo service to ferry us home, plus complimentary Jurlique products for the baby. Even the meals sound yummy. I got a little freaked out after viewing the delivery room. It suddenly dawned upon me that even with epidural, the delivery process might be more difficult than I envisioned. I am trying not to think about it.

Last Saturday was also our first pre-natal class with Wong Boi Boi, Thomson Medical Centre's leading consultant. Although small in frame, Mrs Wong commands quite alot of attention with her no nonsense attitude, which is occasionally tinged with a wry sense of humour. "Is that quite clear?"seems to be her favorite phrase. Hubby and I are quite tickled by it.

We were quite surprised to see a huge turnout for the class- at least 50 couples all squeezed into a smallish room. Some of the ladies looked heavily pregnant. I'm glad I chose to attend the class in my 5th month when mobility is still not much of an issue. Mrs Wong's classes are truly enriching for first time parents like Hubby and myself. 2 hours seemed to fly by before we knew it. During the class, we were taught some useful prenatal exercises and given a slide presentation on nutrition and myths about pregnancy. I learnt that too much ginger, papaya and camomile tea is no good for the baby but it is ok to drink cold water. Hubby was especially smug when Mrs Wong said that bird's nest has limited or no nutritional value. Tsk.

Weight wise, I realise I am starting to plough on more kilos at an alarming pace. During Wong's checkup, I had put 1 kilo. At this rate, I am going to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by Jan!

With Christmas and Chinese New Year just around the corner, it is going to be a challenge cutting back on all the yummy chocolates, tarts and sugar drinks.
