Best of all- today is Sunday, which means I don't need to work and can rest at home more.
In the past 2 weeks, my sense of smell has been heightened. Which ain't a good thing at all. My office colleagues don't know I'm pregnant yet so its important for me not to gag so openly whenever a smoker drops by my desk for a chat after a "smoke break". I also have an aversion to strong cologne scents. Even the smell of my own shampooed hair sometimes makes me nauseous. Thankfully, I have managed to successfully distract myself using the following methods:
1) spray a lavender scent in the air to diffuse unpleasant odours
2) pop a strong mint into my mouth
3) Drink 100 plus
4) if all else fails, excuse myself to visit the loo
Since I'm not sure if an overdose of mints will have any ill effect on the fetus, I have stocked up on a range of other sweets, ranging from fruit gums to japanese grapefuit candies to keep the morning sickness at bay. This is not working out - the excessive chewing and increased sugar intake are making my teeth ache when I brush them. Worse still, I'm afraid this will develop into pregnancy gingivitis, which is known to develop in almost half of all pregnant women and could result in complications like pre-term labour.
