Update 2 on Baby 2

Time flies. I am already 27 weeks preggers and happy to report that all is well.

We recently had a portfolio reshuffle in office and I was assigned a purportedly more "senang" country to cover. Unfortunately, the moment I took over, activity levels spiked and I had the ill fortune of having to eat in for lunch and work OT the past week.

*Fast forward to 32 weeks*

I'm still swamped at work but baby No 2 has been really co-operative. No painful backaches and leg cramps yet (fingers crossed). In fact, up till Week 30, I've been feeling generally energetic.

My only 2 grouses? A very itchy rash on my right leg which doesn't seem to go away. I got it ever since the end of the first trimester and initially dismissed it as nothing. But it has since spread to my calves, knees and feet. It can really get quite bothersome on hot days and I try to douse it with cold water as much as possible but things haven't really gotten better. Tried sharing this with Dr Chan during my last visit but he didn't seem to deem it concerning and didn't even prescribe me any creams. Tsk.

Grouse No 2 is my insatiable appetite. I need to eat bread for breakfast and constantly feel the need to snack or munch on something sweet or savory by 4pm.  Durian and ice kachang are my current weaknesses (not forgetting the occasional Cadbury Fruit and Nut chocolate bar). I feel my whole body burgeoning. In my last visit, it was noted that I had put on 3 kilos within 3 weeks. Chan (almost) gave me a earful but had to rush off for his son's ROM so I was let off with quite a light warning.

We're decided on the name for Baby No 2. It will be Tay Kai Jynn. (1 alphabet away from his sister Kai Lynn). We were initially also contemplating with the name "Kai Mynn" but most people voted in favor of Kai Jynn, or Jynn in short.

Kai Jynn's seems to share certain similar features with Kai Lynn. Both will sport big eyes (those sockets in the ultrasound are huge) and a high forehead. Kai Jynn however appears to be luckier than his sister in the follicle department. Shopping for Kai Jynn seems more subdued than Kai Lynn but he is certainly on the receiving end of some really cool pieces of clothing and gadgets. The Boba carrier I ordered just arrived today and it looks really funky. I have also decided to invest in a better breast pump "Medela Freestyle" this time.

After months of deliberation, we decided to engage Auntie Kelly as my confinement lady. This time, I'll be engaging her for 2 months. 1 month was really too short the last time and I reckon there'll be more to chew now that I have 2 tweenies to look after. Auntie Kelly's a meticulous and hygenic caregiver who can also cook pretty well. However, she is also a tad too talkative and political for my liking.  I hope I can manage the situation better this time.

Start of 2011- Happy New Year Weng Weng

Its never easy going back to work after a 2 weeks hiatus.

There's a big pile of work stacked up and a big budget to meet.

In other words, scary.

The hyper energy I used to feel in my second trimester seems to be fading fast as I enter my 28th week. The buldge now screams "preggie" instead of "fattie" and people seem more sympathetic to me.

Movement is also getting a little awkward these days. I had trouble getting up after using a squatting cubicle in Suntec a few days back. It was quite a hallowing experience. I had to use the walls to hoist myself forward bit by bit under I was in standing position.

Today is our last lesson with Wong Boi Boi. Can't really say I enjoy her classes. She's quite a stern instructor and I always feel a little silly during the practice sessions. Thank goodness Hubby picks up things faster than me and enjoys her teaching style. I just hope we can remember what she has taught us by the time Weng Weng arrives.

The RM I am supporting surprised me yesterday by boiling birds nest tonic and sharing half with me. The portion of birds nest was very generous and the soup was sweet and nourishing. This is my first time drinking home brewed birds nest. I was very touched by her kind gesture. Weng Weng seemed to like it and squirmed inside me for a good 30 mins after that. If only my mom could brew me birds nest instead of cooking me "nutritious" tingkat dinner.

While surfing the net, I chanced upon a very interesting website which claims to use scientific methods to help you conceive a baby of your desired gender.

Looks interesting. Since we want a boy for our 2nd one (IF we even have number 2), we might just go for it.

Weight wise I am pleased that my weight has stayed constant for the past 2 weeks. I'm almost exactly at my pre pregnancy weight now. My target is to gain not more than a kilo a month till delivery. Wonder if it is achievable.
